The GR34 on the Côte de Granit Rose: from Perros-Guirec to Trébeurden, Step by Step
Published on 14 October 2026
The GR34, the customs officers’ path that runs the length of Brittany’s coastline, offers its most famous stretch along the Côte de Granit Rose. Between Perros-Guirec and Trébeurden, it can be walked at an easy pace over two days.
The route at a glance
Distance: around 32km from Perros-Guirec to Trébeurden
Stages: two, with a natural stopping point at Trégastel
Difficulty: easy, with little in the way of climbs, but a path that’s sometimes narrow and rocky
Markings: the white and red waymarks of the long-distance footpaths (GR)
These distances are approximate: they come from GPS tracks published by hikers and vary depending on the detours taken. Download an up-to-date track before setting off.
Stage 1: from Perros-Guirec to Trégastel (around 12.5km)
This is the most beautiful stage, and the busiest. It starts from Trestraou beach in Perros-Guirec, and the path hugs the great pink boulders almost straight away. You pass beneath the Mean Ruz lighthouse, built from pink granite, then descend towards the small harbour of Ploumanac’h and the Saint-Guirec oratory, perched on the beach.
The path then skirts the Ploumanac’h cove and continues on to Trégastel, with views along the way of Costaérès castle, perched on its islet opposite Tourony beach. The stage ends at Coz-Pors beach, right by the aquarium.

Allow half a day if you want time to stop for photos. Set off early in the morning or late in the afternoon: the light is lovelier and there are far fewer people on the Ploumanac’h stretch.
Stage 2: from Trégastel to Trébeurden (around 20km)
Longer and wilder. After Trégastel’s beaches and the Grève Blanche, the path leaves the great granite boulder fields for a lower, quieter stretch of coast running alongside the town of Pleumeur-Bodou, before arriving in Trébeurden.
You’ll meet far fewer walkers here. A detour via Île Grande, linked to the mainland by a bridge, adds extra distance but is well worth it for the scenery and seabirds. At the end, Tresmeur beach and Trébeurden harbour mark the finish of the Côte de Granit Rose.

Where to stay on the route: one base rather than packed bags
Rather than changing accommodation every night, keep a single base and walk light:
L’Anse Bleue, in Perros-Guirec, is just a few minutes’ walk from the coastal path: ideal for the first stage.
L’Anse Roz, in the heart of Trégastel, sits at the halfway point: the end of the first stage and the start of the second are both close by. And the terrace hot tub will be waiting for your legs in the evening.
Travelling as a group? Together, the two cottages can sleep up to 13 walkers: see our page for large groups.
Getting back to your starting point
In summer, shuttle buses link the beaches along the coast, including Trégastel and Perros-Guirec. Timetables change each season: check with the tourist office.
Out of season, plan for two cars, a taxi, or walk the stage there and back: the view is never quite the same in the other direction.
Our practical tips
Sturdy walking shoes: granite gets slippery when wet.
A waterproof jacket or windbreaker, even in summer: the weather can turn quickly by the sea. If you’ve come without one, our sailor’s oilskins are available at the Horizon Marin shop, on the Trestraou seafront, right at the start of the path.
Water and a snack: on the second stage, cafés are few and far between.
Stay on the waymarked path: the cliff vegetation and nesting birds are protected.
Walking with a dog, access rules vary by area and season: check with the tourist office before setting off.
A two-bedroom house and a separate studio set around an enclosed garden, on the Perros-Guirec coast road. Jacuzzi facing the bay, with Trestrignel beach a 5-minute walk away.
A renovated three-bedroom house in the heart of Trégastel village, facing the Ploumanac'h lighthouse and Costaérès castle. Jacuzzi all year round, with the beach less than 100m away.
