There’s no bad season on the Côte de Granit Rose, just different ones. Here’s how to choose.
Spring (April to June): the coast wakes up
Gorse blooms along the coastal path, boats start sailing out to the Sept-Îles again, and puffins return to the archipelago. The days grow longer and the beaches stay quiet. The May bank holiday weekends book up fast: reserve early.
Who’s it for? Walkers, bird lovers, and anyone who wants the coast without the crowds.
Summer (July and August): peak season
Lifeguarded beaches, markets, festivals, watersports, hydrangeas in bloom: everything is open and everyone is here. It’s also the most expensive and most in-demand time of year; during school holidays, the minimum stay is 5 to 7 nights depending on the period.
Who’s it for? Families and anyone who enjoys a lively atmosphere. Book several months ahead.
September and October: our favourite season
The sea has kept summer’s warmth, the beaches empty out, and the light turns golden. The big equinox tides expose the rocks like at no other time of year.
Who’s it for? Couples, retirees, and anyone who can travel outside school holidays.
Sunrise over the Sainte-Anne bay, from the terrace at L'Anse Roz
Winter (November to March): the coast all to yourself
Storms crashing on the rocks, the coastal path all but deserted, early sunsets, and a warm hot tub in the evening. Some restaurants close, but the essentials stay open, and prices are the lowest of the year.
Who’s it for? Anyone after peace and quiet, remote working with a sea view, or a weekend to unwind.
