Pale sand, pink granite rocks and water that turns turquoise in the sun: the beaches along the coast may look alike, but each has its own character. Here are the ones we recommend, from east to west.
In Perros-Guirec
Trestrignel
A sheltered cove below the coast road, with fine sand, popular with families. A 5-minute walk from L’Anse Bleue.
Trestraou
Perros-Guirec’s main beach, lifeguarded in season, with its seafront, ice-cream stalls, sailing and surf schools, and the ferry terminal for the Sept-Îles. This is also the starting point of the coastal path (sentier des douaniers).
Saint-Guirec, in Ploumanac’h
The most photographed beach: Saint-Guirec’s oratory sits right on the sand, surrounded by pink granite rocks. It’s small and very busy in summer, so go early in the morning.
Pink granite rocks at sunset
In Trégastel
Tourony
On the edge of Ploumanac’h, facing Costaérès castle: one of the finest viewpoints on the coast.
Coz-Pors
At the foot of the sea aquarium and the giant rocks, a handy, lively beach that’s great with children.
La Grève Blanche
Pale sand between the granite boulders, reached via the coastal path. Quieter than Coz-Pors.
In Trébeurden
Tresmeur
Trébeurden’s main beach, sheltered, right at the foot of the resort.
Good to know
The tide changes everything: a sandy beach at low tide can almost disappear at high tide. Check the tide times before you settle in.
The water in the Channel stays cool, even in August: perfect for a refreshing dip, a little bracing for long swims.
Lifeguarded beaches are only staffed in season, mainly in July and August; the lifeguard posts and opening times are posted by the local councils.
With a dog, the rules vary from beach to beach and by season: the tourist office can give you an up-to-date list.
