A Weekend on the Côte de Granit Rose: Our 2-Day Itinerary
Published on 19 October 2026
Two days are enough to fall in love with the Côte de Granit Rose, as long as you don’t rush. Here’s the itinerary we recommend to our guests, tried and tested in every season.
Saturday morning: Ploumanac’h before the crowds
Start with the best of it, early. From Trestraou beach in Perros-Guirec, follow the coastal path to the Mean Ruz lighthouse and Ploumanac’h harbour: around 1 hour 30 minutes of gentle walking among the pink rocks. Before 10am, the light is soft and the path is almost empty.
Breakfast or a coffee at Ploumanac’h harbour, then head back the same way: the view changes completely in the other direction.
Saturday afternoon: the Renote peninsula
Head to Trégastel, just a few minutes away. Walking right round the Renote peninsula takes about an hour, through granite boulder fields and small white sand beaches. Less well known than Ploumanac’h, it’s every bit as spectacular.
If it rains, Trégastel’s marine aquarium, built into the rocks near Coz-Pors beach, is a great alternative. Check its opening days outside school holidays.
Granite rocks turning pink at sunset
Saturday evening: sunset, then the hot tub
In the last hour of daylight, the granite takes on its brightest colour. The rocks at Trégastel and Ploumanac’h are the best vantage points. Then head back and slip into the hot tub: both our holiday homes have their own, with sea views. See our holiday rentals with a hot tub.
Sunday morning: a closer look at the sea
From April to September, board a boat at Trestraou harbour station for the Sept-Îles archipelago: gannets, grey seals and, in spring, puffins. Book the day before during the season.
The rest of the year, head west: Île Grande in Pleumeur-Bodou, linked to the mainland by a bridge, then Trébeurden and its harbour.
In strong winds, stay on the coast: the waves crashing over the rocks at Ploumanac’h are quite a sight, viewed from a safe distance from the edge.
Sunday afternoon: before heading home
One last walk on a beach, a Breton jumper to bring a little piece of Brittany home (the Horizon Marin shop in Trestraou sells sailor’s jumpers and oilskins), and then the journey home.
Good to know for a weekend
Outside school holidays, both our holiday homes can be booked for a weekend of 2 or 3 nights. During the holidays, the minimum stay is longer.
Pack a waterproof jacket, even in spring: a shower rarely lasts long, but it arrives quickly.
Check the tide times: a sandy beach at low tide can almost disappear at high tide.
